As part of their Quest4Change expedition, school teams have the opportunity to include the ASDAN Certificate of Personal Effectiveness Level 3, worth 70 UCAS points (the equivalent to 'A' at AS Level).
What is the ASDAN Certificate of Personal Effectiveness Level 3?
ASDAN is an internationally recognised awarding body offering qualifications that explicity grow skills for learning, skills for employment and skills for life.
The CoPE Level 3 award encourages students to reflect on the soft-skills they have learnt and developed before, during and after their expedition and allows these to be nationally recognised and accredited. The CoPE Level 3 concentrates on developing the following skills:
- Working with others
- Imrpoving own learning and performance
- Problem Solving
- Oral Presentation
How do students complete the CoPE Level 3?
Much of the work needed to complete the award is undertaken simply by participation in the expedition, with other areas covered during the Training Days and Debriefing Session at your school. Portfolio evidence of the above skills are required to complete the award, which holds an equivalent of 70 UCAS points. Quest4Change will be on hand support and guide students through their ASDAN qualification, both in person at Training and Debriefing sessions and by phone and email.
What the universities say...
“The University of Exeter encourages all applicants to extend their qualification portfolio and to develop their study skills in preparation for study in Higher education. ASDAN’s Certificate in Personal Effectiveness (CoPE) qualification will be welcomed alongside other qualifications; and although it will not be incorporated in offers made, it will be considered as part of the overall academic profile of an individual applicant.” - University of Exeter
“We may, in individual cases, find this qualification (CoPE) useful in helping to differentiate between applicants of equal academic standing.” - Durham University
