Danilo gets thin for Villa Maria
Ana Mariela
5 year old Ana Mariela started the long process of consultations and treatment for her tumour back in March 2009. She is going to be having the first of her operations on February 15th 2010, the operation has been planned for this time of year so that she doesn't miss any school (she is one of the children receiving free education at the Quest school). There are two operations she will be receiving. The first is to kill the tumourous cells and prevent any more growth of the disfiguration. Following that, she will have a second operation to remove the disfiguring cells already there, and all being well that will be that! So once again, thanks to everyone who helped make this treatment possible, and everyone please let's keep our fingers crossed come February and check back h

April 2010 Update:
Ana has had her first few operations and is recovering well. The latest team of volunteers in Peru went to hospital to visit her which really cheered her up.
From Ana and her whole family, thank you for your support which has saved this young girls life.
Casa Lar
June 2010 update:
As many of you may be aware we here at Quest4Change have been working hard over the last 18 months to increase the support we give to the Casa Lar home for disabled boys in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
We are pleased to announce that life for the boys at Casa Lar is continuing to improve. Thanks to the support of UK trusts and donors Quest4change has made a number of valuable purchases for the home in Rio, including mattresses, food and clothing and numerous social and education trips have been arranged for the boys and they are all attending some form of school according to their needs or their circumstances.
In March this year our Brazil coordinator Danny Martinez travelled out to the project to allocate funds and report on the progress made and what is needed for the future. We have managed to secure some funding from the government which is great news however it is significantly less than the home received in 2007/8, so it is essential that we here in the UK continue to support the boys as much as we can to enable the home to maintain an appropriate level of care, support and education.

Villa Maria School update
The Quest school is gaining quite a name for itself in Villa Maria. With the word spreading about free education for those who cannot otherwise afford it, the list of people wanting to sign up is growing every week. So much so, that they are looking to expand the location and are fundraising to be able to buy a neighbouring plot of land on which to grow the school. And Danilo is leading the way with his weight loss fundraising campaign. Find out more here.
Extremely generous donations from friends, family and work colleagues of Katie Ashbridge have helped to repair all of their computers, buy an industrial photocopier (a VERY important resource for the school) as well as a year's worth of stationary. Thanks to support from the UK charity La Vida, the school has not only been able to give free education to almost 50 children this year (check out the kids of the Quest School), but also help buy the materials for their cookery classes, as well as a science department!
Danilo gets thin for Villa Maria
For all of you who have taken part in our Villa Maria project in Peru, you will remember the ever present Danilo, and you will also remember that he was big! Nothing has changed we're afraid, he's still there, and even bigger than ever. Until this summer that is, Danilo has pledged to become thin by the end of this (Peruvian) summer.
Danilo - The beginning
Why, you may ask, he's such a fan of food and of sitting around doing nothing! Well the Quest school is growing fast and the classrooms in the building are no longer big enough to accommodate the ever increasing numbers they are accepting. The property next door has become available though and the team in Peru are keen to be able to snap it up as soon as possible, so they can keep doing the wonderful work they have been for over 10 year now. So here's the deal. Danilo currently weighs an unhealthy 140kgs (that's around 22 stone!!!), he is aiming to drop down to a much more acceptable 100kgs by the end of March 2010 (about 15 stone). You can sponsor him for every kilo he drops, or pledge a certain amount only if he reaches the sacred 100. Support Danilo.
